Many people are familiar with some variation of this drink made from a deep red variation of the hibiscus flower. Whether made to have cold or as a tea, you may have heard of it as zobo in Nigeria, sobolo in Ghana, wunjo in Gambia, bissap/bissab in Ivory Coast, Senegal and Sierra Leone, as well as other parts of west Africa and sorrel in the Caribbean and hibiscus in variety of English speaking countries.
Our recipe will leave you in love with the drink. With a touch of ginger to enhance the flavour and wonderfully spiced with cinnamon and cloves, you will understand why this is traditionally a Christmas drink in much of the Caribbean.
